Google SERP preview: will your title and description fit?
Google cuts titles and descriptions by width in pixels, not by a character count. Type yours below to see where the cut falls on desktop and mobile, and whether your brand name survives it. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
Desktop
Title up to about 580 px at 20 px Arial, description up to about 920 px at 14 px.
Mobile
Titles wrap onto a second line; descriptions are cut sooner, at about 680 px.
Why pixels and not characters?
A capital W is about three times as wide as a lower-case i, so "60 characters" can fit comfortably or be cut short depending on the letters. Google truncates at a pixel width and finishes with an ellipsis, usually at a word break. The widths here are close approximations of Google's layout, which changes from time to time and can also rewrite a title or description it thinks doesn't match the search, so treat the preview as a guide rather than a guarantee.
Put the words people search for first and the brand last. If something has to be cut, it should be the brand, which a searcher can already see in the site name above the title. More in the guides to title tags and meta descriptions.
