SEO audits for dental practices
Dental websites are among the best built we audit. That makes the remaining faults more valuable to fix, not less: when the field is close, metadata is what separates the practice on page one from the practice on page two.
What we found
Dentistry is a competitive, high-value local search category, and it shows. Across 650 audited practice websites the average score was 87.6, the second highest of any vertical we measured. Most practices have paid somebody to build the site properly.
The faults that remain are almost entirely metadata. More than half had a title tag outside the useful length, typically because the practice name alone is too short to say anything about location or service.
Alt text is the second most common gap. Dental sites are image heavy, with before and after galleries and staff photos, and those images are usually uploaded straight from a camera with the file name intact.
Most common faults in this industry
- Title tag length
- Images missing alt text
- Meta description length
How to pitch it
- Lead with the title tag and show it in a search result. A practice competing for 'dentist' plus a suburb and titling its home page with just the practice name is leaving the match to chance.
- Structured data is a strong second. Opening hours, whether the practice takes emergencies, and which health funds are accepted are exactly the facts an AI assistant is asked for.
- Avoid leading with mobile or HTTPS. In this vertical those are almost always already handled, and raising them signals that you have not looked.
